My brother and I used to play checkers for literally hours when we were kids. This brings back fond memories of those times!

Kindle Game for a Dollar: Strimko

When I first read the title of this game I thought it said "Stinko", which was definitely intriguing.

The object of the game is to place a set of numbers in rows or columns without repeating them in any row or column. Strimko adds a concept of "streams" that crisscross throughout the puzzle. With streams, you must consider not only the rows and columns, but also the streams, and make sure that each contains different numbers.

You can choose from four different difficulty levels. Each difficulty level increases the size of the grid you play on: "Easy" has a 4x4 grid, while the "Master" level challenges you with a 7x7 grid. Each of the four difficulty levels has 30 different puzzles, allowing for a total of 120 different puzzles to play. A hint function can also let you keep playing if you get stuck.

Peg Solitaire looks like a fun little game, and it's .99 for a limited time. You try to clear a board by jumping pegs over each other and remove the "jumped" pegs. The objective
of the game is to fully clear the board with only one peg left.

The Kindle Version of the game comes with 40 different boards at various difficulty levels. The levels range from easy to expert, including classic setups like English-, French- and Wiegleb-Solitaire. The program also tracks your success with each board in order to show you where it is worth to spend more time.

Kindle Game for a Dollar: Blocked

Blocked is a combination of old-school Tetris and those slider number puzzles we all used to get as prizes in Cracker Jack boxes. Worth the .99 that you'll pay, for sure.

You can choose from four different difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard. Each difficulty level increases the number of blocks you must manipulate before solving the puzzle. Each of the four difficulty levels has 36 puzzles, for a total of 144 total puzzles to choose from. While easy levels have fewer blocks and can be quick, more difficult levels with many blocks can be quite challenging.
